Welcome to the Home & School Association (HSA) webpage.  Here you will find information on all the ways you can use your time and talent to help make a better school for your children. 

MISSION
To provide a communication link between the school and parents and to support Catholic education through a variety of planned activities ranging from fundraisers to those that enhance the development of community and spiritual formation.

MEETING
Meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of the month throughout the school year. We meet at 8:10am in the conference room in the cafetorium. Here is the meeting schedule for the 2008-2009 school year:

Premiere Event

Auction Celebrando Los Ninos, Celebrating the children, February 7, 2009

The Auction is our biggest fundraiser of the school year.  It is a fun social event for parents, friends and relatives and a wonderful way to donate to the school.  There are lots of ways to donate and help organize the event.  Please contact Christy Rosenthal at christyrosenthal@aol.com. to join the committee.

Book Fair: October 3 - 9, 2008
The book fair provides new books and additional funds for the library!  The kids enjoy coming to the book fair, making a list and returning to purchase those absolute favorites.  Parents love to attend to collect those books that will be needed throughout the school year.  We also have the Pastries for Parents during the book fair.   Grab a pastry and check out books for you and your kids.  Love books, want to help? Parish Fall Festival: October 18, 2008,11am - 8pm Family Fun for Everyone!  The Fall Festival includes game booths, a book sale, delicious food, bounce houses and a way to enjoy time with the entire parish.   Volunteers are needed to work in the booths, at ticket sales, the book sale and manage prize distribution.  To sign up now to help at this fun event, please contact Claudine Humphries at miles.humphries@verizon.net.

Field Day:  May 27, 2009

The best day of the entire school year to quote a second grader!!  There are sport events, water events, lunch and snacks.   Volunteers are needed for set up, activities and clean up.  Please contact Charisse Boisbrun at boisbrun@tx.rr.com.

Used Uniform Sale:  August 2009 We collect and sell used uniforms in August before the start of each school year.  Since the uniforms are donated by our families, 100% of these funds to support the events we have for the children.Please contact Meg Patton at megret@sbcglobal.net for more information.

School Supply Sale:  August 2009 This committee organizes the sale, ordering and distribution of preboxed school supplies for all grades.   To join this committee, please contact Melissa Linares at melissa.linares@tx.rr.com.

SHOP TILL YOU DROP FUNDRAISING

Believe it or not, simply shopping for food or gifts can help raise money for the school.  Some of our programs are:

Box Tops - Collect box tops and send them in with your child's grade.  The grade that collects the most box tops receives an ice cream party at the end of the school year!!

Grocery Cards - Select St. Mark as the beneficiary of your grocery card to help raise funds for the school. 

Gift Cards - buy gift cards for Christmas gifts through HSA and a percentage goes to St. Mark School.

SCHOOL COMMUNITY COMMITTEES

Christmas Teacher Appreciation Luncheon: HSA sponsors a Christmas Teacher Appreciation Luncheon to show our gratitude for our hardworking, dedicated educators.  To help with this party, please contact Debbie Reed at dreareed@aol.com.

Hospitality: This committee of hostesses plan and run Newcomers Orientation, Back to School Breakfast, Pastries for Parents and other Catholic School Week events.  Please contact Pat Rohmer at cp.rohmer@verizon.net to join this fun committee.

Newcomers Program: With gracious Southern Hospitality we would like to warmly welcome our new families.  If you have been at St. Mark for three years you can help with a phone call to provide a friendly welcome and answer questions.   To sign up for this considerate committee please contact Carol Hasty at carolhasty@verizon.net.

Junior Achievement: Junior Achievement programs promote economic development around the world by teaching young people entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy skills.  Please contact Sarah Salvia at thesalvias@verizon.net to learn more about teaching Junior Achievement in your child's classroom.

Prayer Chain/Spiritual Life: Looking for a way to volunteer with prayer?  This committee assists with the living stations of the cross and helps our families in need with prayers.  If your family has a prayer need,or to inform Prayer Chain/Spiritual Life of another familyʼs prayer needs Contact Louise Gannon at jotgannon@verizon.net

Helping Hands: We assist our fellow school families when they need extra help, whether it be the demands of a new baby, the stress of an illness or surgery, or any other hardship.
